Thanks folks for all the kind words.
I know there are competent people out there than can resolve this, no doubt. I've obtained and then cleaned-up these older American guns out of pure nostalgia for them. I really don't use them for hunting much anymore but they have been fun to shoot occasionally. I'll get a post-mortem for this gun later this morning from one-such competent person and we'll see where we go from there.
Right now the cost for re-stocking seems a bit prohibitive but we'll see how this develops. I will tell you this however, going forward with any older gun will now be with much more caution about how it's used.
I will also have to re-evaluate more-closely several older guns that I currently possess.
