I do think that you would be doing her a favor by encouraging her to use double triggers. An hour’s practice with snap caps at her age and she would be a pro.

If you LEARN to use double triggers first you can switch back and forth between double triggers and single triggers at will, according to the usage. If you learn on a single trigger it is monumentally harder to learn to use double triggers. I have proven this in my own life and in the life of my oldest grandson. I agree that a single trigger is better for most people in sporting clays, but it's great being able to swap back and forth at will, without having to give conscious thought to trigger finger placement.

I didn't use double triggers at all until I was in my late 30s. I had no trouble at all adapting to them and still don't; I can switch back and forth a few times a day easily. My daughter also had no issues after starting with a single trigger until she was in her mid-20s. Ability to properly use a double trigger parallels the ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle. Once learned, for a normally coordinated person, it is never an issue going forward. In the field or on targets.
Actually a double trigger offers an advantage beyond reliability and instant choke selection. That is that a double trigger mentally separates the process of firing two shots and prevents throwing away the second barrel. Other than very cold weather it has no disadvantages at all. A single trigger is no faster than a double trigger despite many folks thinking it is.
If not learned early either a manual transmission or a double trigger is normally and incorrectly considered difficult or a handicap.

I agree with Stanton and Richard 100%. I started at about the age of 8 or 9 (I dare not tax my memory further!!) with a single barrel/trigger, moved to a double trigger SxS, back to a single trigger Ithaca 37 pump, back to a SxS double trigger, back to an 1100, then an A5, then back to the 12 SxS with two triggers, and then onward through many different pumps, autos, O/U with single trigger, an Uggie and and Ithaca SKB with two, and so forth and so on. I have never, ever found it difficult to switch between the two configurations of trigger. I think if you listen to all those who say it is difficult you may very well start to believe it. Just learn to shoot what you have. My $.02 worth!!
