My 32" Knockabout is not light.

Bought the 1925 catalog. Ejector knock about gun was listed at 200.00 in 1925, same catalog had high grade fox and lc smiths cheaper. Even the British big names guns were quite a bit cheaper. Now that I have read their advertising and remember seeing so many, I understand they (VLD ) had really successfully marketed this model to the American hunter as the gun to hunt with.
These are nice but sure would have went for the Fox XE, Purdey,or Churchill if I was catalog shopping with my 200.00. I would have posted the page with the wonderful description but it has copyright threats all over the thing.

Gun came in today. Checkering looks too perfect and wood has a varnish of some kind so was restored a while back. It’s 6.4lbs and balanced wonderfully. Shot to point of aim choked .016 .035. Always wanted a VLD knockabout and this ejector, dolls head/crossbolt version fits the bill. Will just have wood refinished and barrels blacked on this one.
Any Francotte collectors know how many knockabouts were made with this configuration, only have seen a few dolls head/crossbolts and never with ejectors.

Could you pleasure us w/ an image of the marks just forward of the ejectors up to the forend hanger?

Thanks for the effort. I was trying to see what looks to be text along the lower rib against the right tube and the heavily worm marks just ahead of the flats. Plus there looks to be tubeset knitter stamps near the forend lug.
