I believe your statement of the situation, but the conclusion might seem to be intended a bit too.... maybe a bit too provocatively?
We have too many foxes here, also in urban and peri-urban spaces (and increasing numbers of golden jackals, Canis aureus), but I would not wish back rabies either.

Carcano

Not intended to be provocative at all. I've stated the same on many other threads here over the years.

And, comparing rabies to CWD is a poor comparison. People can catch rabies, but not CWD.

I Can't believe that You said You would welcome CWD. I know you also Love Coyotes, so they can Kill off the Deer.
Their must be more than Wine in that chalice you drink as a Deacon in your Church on Sundays.

Dirty Harry

Coyotes don't kill enough deer to matter, and they help keep the population healthy.

They're also good for ground nesting birds.

Your opinion, not mine or that of many others. I personally know of a man in this community who found an active coyote den during spring turkey season and placed a trail camera on it. In that spring he recorded the female bringing 8 dead fawns in to her pups. Also, Missouri found that coyotes killed an average of over 20 deer (many probably fawns) per year.

I call that significant, and really don't care whether it is significant, or matters, to you or not.

We have both deer and coyotes everywhere here. My SIL and his family routinely take 15+ deer a year just over the creek from us (and have for a coupledecades), and there’s probably 20 coyotes within a mile.

We also have very healthy pheasant, grouse, and woodcock populations, with a solid dozen pheasants right on my property.

Add in the bears, which people also claim decimate deer population, the odd wolf and occasional mountain lion...if any of the claims about coyotes were true, we'd have no deer, and few ground nesting game birds...
