You aren’t dealing with bacteria with CWD or CJD. It is caused by a folded protein. A prion.
It isn’t technically alive. So, it can’t be killed. Bleach works because it literally destroys cell membranes. Living, and otherwise, as long as they are organic. Cooking doesn’t destroy proteins, otherwise, there would be no point in cooking meat, as you wouldn’t get any protein out of it.
This is a totally different thing. Prions have demonstrated the ability to linger in nature for decades. Nobody knows for sure all the methods for transmission from environment to organism.
100 % fatal is what we know for sure.
