Mike, the GA DNR will issue permits to kill 10 on a crop depredation permit. We do so but, ten (10) isn't a drop in the bucket. Turning every Tom, Dick and Harry loose on the fields at night to shoot them isn't either. Effective control by permit must take place at night. They won't come out to feed on the crops until dark.

My family hunts them during the season, but with the season limit at ten (10), there again, not a drop in the bucket.

Take a look at this video on Youtube of one-half of one of my fields of young corn, scanned by the shooter. There are 60+ deer feeding on my corn that night, on 54 acres, AT ONE TIME! Multiply that by 10 hours of darkness a day, times a 120 day growing season. To put it plainly . . . . culling is not the answer any more than swatting a mosquito on your patio will eliminate the skeeter problem.

CWD only affects deer, moose and elk according to what I've been able to find out. No moose or elk here (thank God!). So, why do I not want CWD? It has never been proven that it can infect humans, ever. People don't worry about mange or parvo in coyotes. Clue me in on what I'm obviously missing.

May God bless America and those who defend her.
