I remember a pastor that brought his .410 Stevens pistol into our hardware store in 1948. Dad said FDR made a lot of people feel like criminals.

Exactly Hal. Franklin Roosevelt signed the National Firearms Act of 1934 into law, which put severe restrictions on ownership of these guns.

Of course, FDR was a Democrat, and Democrats have a long history of infringing upon our Gun Rights. You'd think most gun owners would understand by now that Democrats are lying when they say they respect the 2nd Amendment, but many still support them. They are like battered women who keep going back to an abusive husband until he finally kills her. And their blind support for anti-gunners causes the rest of us to gradually lose our rights and to pay more for guns and ammo. Proof that you just can't fix stupid.

Voting for anti-gun Democrats is dumber than giving treats to a dog that shits on a Persian Rug

You and other people should always remember Hal, any time people bring up Democrats and their anti gun position, the thought of Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford (two great Republicans) talking politicians into voting for the most notorious pieces of legislature against gun owners comes to mind. One is the Brady Bill- passed in 1993, because of Republican, James Brady being shot (and murdered). If it wasn't for these two Republicans, the bill would have never passed. But several pro-gun owners changed their minds and voted for the bill because Reagan and Ford (and Jimmy Carter) begged them to. Some of us will never forget that. We just don't keep bringing it up. Although, I realize you didn't mean to do that. But good luck.

Well, here's DimmyW once again pretending to IGNORE me. DimmyW predictably was triggered into defending his anti-gun Democrats once again by reaching back decades to find a couple Republicans who made the mistake of going along with Democrats in order to pass the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban.

DimmyW neglects to say that the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban was promoted by Democrats, supported by a large majority of Democrat Congressmen and Senators, and ultimately signed into law by the very anti-gun Democrat Bill Clinton. Democrats wanted it then, and they still want it now. They don't even try to hide it anymore.

DimmyW lied when he claimed that Reagan and Ford talked politicians into supporting the Assault Weapons Ban. In reality, it was anti-gun Democrats who convinced them to sign a joint letter to Congress, along with anti-gun Democrat Jimmy Carter, to support this really bad and useless anti-gun Bill.

DimmyW also lied when he claimed James Brady was murdered during the assassination attempt on Reagan. Brady lived for another 33 years after being shot, although he was paralyzed due to the attack. An anti-gun Democrat coroner ruled his 2014 death a homicide, which is like saying that a soldier wounded during WWII was killed in action even though he went on to live for decades after the war. Brady did suffer the effects of severe brain damage, not unlike the even worse brain damage DimmyW is suffering now.

The 1994 Assault Weapons Ban expired after 10 years in 2004 when Republicans refused to enact new Assault Weapons Bans pushed by anti-gun Democrats. Both Barack Husein Obama and Joe Biden pushed very hard to reimpose the ban, as did every other Democrat candidate since then. Virtually all Democrats in Congress supported Obama and Biden in their anti-gun efforts, but they were blocked by Pro-Gun Republicans, and they failed. Obama said his failure to get a new Assault Weapon and Large Capacity Magazine Ban passed in 2013 was his greatest political defeat. He failed only due to the efforts of Republicans, Gun Owners with brains, and the NRA.

Although some Republicans haven't been perfect when it comes to Gun Rights, it is a virtual certainty that the Democrat opponents of Reagan, both George W. Bush, and George H.W. Bush would have been far worse for Gun Rights. When Gun Rights issues come before the Supreme Court, it is Anti-gun Democrat appointees who virtually always vote against us.

Unfortunately, a small minority of Republicans have been willing to support this and other anti-gun legislation... including my own former Republican Senator Pat Toomey. Of course, I did not support Toomey or make excuses for him. I called, wrote, and emailed his office to ask him to reverse his position, and when he didn't, I campaigned against him and never again voted for him. That's how intelligent Gun Owners should react, instead of continuing to reward anti-gunners for infringing upon our 2nd Amendment Rights.

When you support or vote for an anti-gunner... you have demonstrated that you are anti-gun too. Owning a few guns does not change that fact.

No Gun Owner with an ounce of brains should or would support anti-gun Democrats (or anti-gun Republicans for that matter). If they care at all about Gun Rights, they should work to change their candidates anti-gun positions or find some other candidate who actually fully supports the 2nd Amendment. Perhaps they vote for anti-gun Democrats because they feel stronger about supporting Gay Rights, Transgender Rights, Open Borders, Higher Taxes, more Regulations, Bans on Oil and Gas Drilling etc. But they are lying when they call themselves 2nd Amendment supporters. They should be called out and vilified by the Gun Owning community, because they are doing damage to the rest of us. And this is why they tried to destroy the NRA, and why they wish to censor people like me.
