Watching "Les Vacance de Maigret" tonight I was trying to identify all the French SxS's that appeared in it. No luck so far:

Generic, Continental boxlock of some sort?

Well it is set in eastern Belgium near Liège 1965. That may be the Meuse in the first screen shot. In Brussels in 1985-88 we used to eat in the fall at a restaurant name "La Becasse" and the birds always seemed to have shot still in them.

Did they have the guts, head, beak and feet still on them, with the bill turned into the birds side and poked right through him? The waiter tried to convince me the colon was empty because a woodcock always emptied it when startled at the flush.

I told him I guess my bird was hit by a car or was constipated, as the shit was clearly still in there. And, I didn’t intend to smear it on toast and eat it.
