At the Kalispell show in March I was talking with Lee Helgeland and Celeste Fisher about custom rifles and looked down on Lee’s table and saw a beautiful 6mm Remington that he had built.

After talking to him about it and trying as hard as I could to get a better price, I finally got it at a $50.00 discount.

This is an extremely pleasing gun to look at and nice to hold. Lee is one of the gun makers featured in the interviews that Steven Dodd Hughes told us about earlier this year.

I have already dispatched a gopher with it…

The combination of superb styling and delicious wood is unbeatable. Starts me thinking "Maybe one more build....."

Alas, time to thin the herd…..

This is a beautiful and classy rifle. The grip appears unusually “long” it gives the impression of having been stretched or squeezed. But again. Very pretty gun.

Although not technically a "Woodward grip", it will give the same feel of the Woodward grip in the hand.

That was one of the more appealing aspects about the rifle…

Zooming in on the picture, it appears that one of the rifles in the rack is a 400 Whelen. Did you happen to get any pictures of it?

Thanks,

John:

There is a close up of the action and the information card at the 400 Whelen Facebook page. The card states that it is G&H #400 on an Obendorf Mauser action with case color by Turnbull.
