Last evening during the SOTU you may have seen a 100 year old naval aviator receive the Medal of Honor. The actual story is far more incredible than the introduction portrayed. During the Korean War there was a day when one brave American was all that stood between 7 attacking MIG-15’s and his carrier below. Six of those MIG’s and their Soviet pilots did not survive the fight. The seventh ran. The pilot and his Panther (shot to shreds) landed safely back on the carrier. Last night’s Medal of Honor was long overdue.
