This country and the men and women who made it what it is. The many dogs that gave me their joy, affection, and comfort during good times and bad. The paperback Crest Books The Old Man and the Boy by Robert Ruark I bought at a Katz drugstore in KC at age 13. That book (which I still have), God's grace, and the Boy Scouts, changed the direction of my life forever.

Ditto on Revdrewdoc and Jagermeister's posts with the addition of being born to God fearing parents in such a great country originally founded on principles in this experiment that we call Democracy. Thankful for those, some still with us & others who have long since passed, who took the time to instil character and to introduce a young lad to hunting, double guns and single shots some 25 years ago, all on the premise that I too would return the favor and pass the knowledge to the next generation. Greatful for the insight that some hunts are first hunts for some as well as last hunt for others which makes every hunt have importance.

Kind Regards,

Raimey

I wake up every morning and as soon as I swing my feet off the bed, onto the floor I say, " Thank You, God." (1) For lasting 30 years and my job and getting a great pension check every month. As soon as I can spend that one, here comes another one in the mail for me to spend. (2) Not having to work for THE MAN anymore. Going to bed when I want. Getting up when I want. Loafing all day. No more shift work in the steel mill. (3) Only one more house payment. (4) Only two years away from my SS check. (5) For that girl I ran into a week ago last Friday. Charlene or Darlene, I can't remember, Lord, but she kept screaming your name. (6) Looking forward to kicking back Thursday with my son (after I slaved in the kitchen), my belly full, watching the football games. AHHHhhhh.

All the above and most importantly right now, the brave men/women who are doing the dirty work to make the world a safer place, in spite of half the people in this country who would rather see us lose than give the President of our country a minute's praise. Am I talking about the Democrats? You're damn right! But, of course, they "support the troops". Sure they do.
In spite of all that, God bless us, every one! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Do eat too much.

Every day I thank God that I have been given the opportunity to serve my country, be there when friends needed me and perhaps made a tiny difference in someones life.
I have never thought much of myself but when this season comes along, I do think, hope, pray that someone is kind enough to think I may have made a difference and does the same when I am gone.
Silly, whinny, full of self? Nope. Just stating the facts, Mam.
May we all think well of self and look to what we have tried to do in this life. It is the only one we shall have. This is not a rehearsal.:}
I am thankful for all that made this a great Nation and gave what they could to protect it.
I am thankful for all that strive to make us all safe and free.
I am thankful for knowing that if I live my life as well as I can, with attention to others, I will live forever.
I am thankful that I knew love and loved.
Small stuff is not very important.
Best,
John

Robert Ruark was an important writer in my younger life, too. I have read all his books and followed his column "The Old Man and the Boy", every month in the hook & bullet magazine. Was it Field & Stream?
Again, good wishes to all. We have very much to be thankful for.
