you might try John Hosford, he is a very talented metal smith and has been working on engraving for a few years.

If a customer brings you a revolver to engrave, this is EXACTLY how it should look. Would look perfect in the glovebox of a purple 1974 Buick 225. With a glass meth pipe.

That said, I’d be interested in seeing some fine Scroll this guy layed down on a double, of some sort.

The customer is a doctor and big Colt collector. The first gun is his design. The engraver just did what the customer asked. As I stated, the engraver can do any style or whatever the customer wanted. I know it's easy to criticize someone else's talent.

Which leads me to ask---I was also wondering, Brian. Are you wanting the original Fox engraving patterns on the gun? Or are you just wanting what is on the gun engraved- making the engraving that is already on the gun deeper and more distinct? Or are you wanting fancier engraving put on the gun (more like the handguns that battle showed) and you aren't interested in keeping the gun with original Fox patterns? I would think the type of engraving you want would make a big difference toward the engraver you pick.

I think what most classic double gun owners want is someone who has experience doing hammer/chisel instead of power graver folks. Hard to come by these days as that's a dying art.

There is an American fella called Terry Wicox who come over here to Germany every year for 5 odd months his main interest is stockwork but the engraving I saw of his was very good.

If your willing to go through the process to get them across the border theres a couple very capable guys in Canada

I think most double gun enthusiast couldn’t tell the difference between hammer and chisel vs power graver. But if inconsistent scroll radius progression is what one desires, it can be duplicated via power graver.

I found an engraver. I mentioned that a while ago.
