Mpb, You seem to have asked a question that isn't possible to answer except to say the guy liked Springfields. This whole site runs on nostalgia. The latest trends in gun design don't get much play here. If you can't find a custom rifle from the 30s that fits your needs, build one or have someone do it for you. Your new one will find wide appeal among the folks here.
