Mr. Legg, I beleive in the right to say whatever you want, but why make such racially charged generalizations? What is the net gain in these types of comments? How does it enhance our collective knowledge of doubleguns? As for my choice in an American classic for hunting - lc smith. Readily avialable, durable, and cheaply obtained in field grades.

As an entry to the world of classic double guns, I’d have to say Elsie (LC Smith). The LC is mechanically a very sound and clever design. Externally, I think they’re one of the less attractive sidelocks, but they’re still beautiful to behold. Most importantly, they have quality in spades and can still be had for a reasonable price when speaking of the lower grades.

1. Re: "don't be so sensitive". I'm a sensitive person.
2. Re: "Mr. Legg, I beleive(sic) in the right to say whatever you want, but why make such racially charged generalizations? What is the net gain in these types of comments? How does it enhance our collective knowledge of doubleguns?" 2a. My "racially charged generalization" is true. The fact that the ongoing Reservation/welfare program still exists is a very large net loss to the taxpayers. 2b. How does a repetitive tag line knocking our government "enhance our collective knowledge of doubleguns"??
Ours is the greatest, most generous country in the world, bar none. Our government, with all it's possible faults, is also the greatest government in the world.

On the gun choices, I'd probably go with the majority here and vote for a Fox. But, then if you reload, a nice G grade damascus Parker for about the same money may be more desireable. Certainly, the damascus guns capture the essence of the vintage American double. NID's and the others are certainly nice. Probably the most important thing about your purchase should be you're getting a quality gun for a fair price. I can say without a doubt that when I relax and I'm not looking for any particular gun, I run across better quality and better priced guns. If you want only a 6lb 20ga single trigger ejector vintage American gun, you either have to be very lucky, pay a small fortune, or settle for a fixer-upper. So, being more open to other guns is the reason you hear all about the guys that run across "the deal".
