There looks to be a bit of confusing information on the littlegun site. The same mark, star over E.M is shown for the Emile Warnant and Ernest Wilmart makers. Could the same mark be used by different makers at different periods of time ? Some photos of the mark don't have a period after the E. I don't understand the significance.

I've done a cursory search for Lisieux phone books and newspaper advertisements from 1925-35 for an Armurerie L'échauguette looking for phone numbers, address, or maybe an advertisement. Nothing turns up but the search engine is tilted towards genealogy and the entries for the Lisieux newspaper such that it was are very limited. Will continue to look.

https://archives.calvados.fr
(probably will have something but can't get a response):

Here is a list of local journals published in the Calvados region in the 1930's:
https://presselocaleancienne.bnf.fr...=1930&anneeFac=1930&tri=datedecr

which mentions this which might be promising (but this is a "party" publication):
L'Avenir de Lisieux : organe de défense et d'action républicaines de l'arrondissement, politique, littéraire, commercial, agricole, sportif et d'annonces ["puis" organe de défense et d'action républicaines de l'arrondissement]. 1924-1928

And there is this list:
https://presselocaleancienne.bnf.fr...p;page=3&taille=50&nombrePages=3

And this history of the Press at Lisieux but I don't feel like creating an account:

Beuh... moi, j'ai eu du succès. 😘😜.

3, place de la République.

That was in the plein town centre. Today, nothing is left of it, only an ugly late 1960s / early 1970s building with a sandwich eastery in its ground floor, which one can look at via Google streetview.

The peculiar historical city was terribly destroyed in the night of 6th to 7th june 1944, by Allied aerial bombardment. On which:
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardement_de_Lisieux

Source for the shop location: an online archival listing of the holdings of the local historical society. A bit "deep web" underneath the Google search dragnet, as I must admit.
