Excellent Raimey. It's interesting that a Belgian gun follows the French custom of engraving the name of the retailer around the underside of the action. This must be at the request of the importer.
"Le Chauguette" surely is L'échauguette" (feminine noun). An échauguette (also spelled écharguette or eschargaicte in Middle French) is a historical term referring to a small, overhanging watchtower, turret, or sentry box, typically found on the corner of a fortified castle, wall, or tower." There was a version of this on my house in Brussels where I lived from 1985-88:
