My sentiments exactly. It was only in the past day or so that the price was slashed to $2k.

I parted out two full sets for pretty good $ 8-10 years ago, but I still have 40-50 issues ( some in complete years) in the attic. It hasn't seemed worth dealing with them in that regard any longer. They are still great reading, no matter how many times Ive been through them.

I'm glad I won't be around to see my set sell for $500 or $600, the going price. I sold 2 sets when the price was high.

They are basically worth nothing, seems a shame. I can't nothing for mine. Set some out at one of our shoots and said take some. Tried to give them to the local library but they would not take them as they were gun magazines. ( I guess they thought they were loaded)

I still look through mine from time to time. I can't look at the Model 21s enough. And some of the engraving on the older guns is exquisite. The Parkers and the Foxes. I'll hang on to mine for a while. It is still nice having them to look at. 👍

I didn't buy and subscribe to The Double Gun Journal with the idea of selling them.
I got them to read, learn, and enjoy. I'm always amazed, when I re-read the old copies, that I find certain things that maybe didn't interest me so much 10-15 years ago, but are very interesting now. When I am old and decrepit, and unable to hunt or shoot my doubles as much, hopefully I will still have good enough eyesight to spend time enjoying my gun library, including my DGJ collection. It's important to keep our minds active.
I recall visiting my Dad one day shortly before he died. He was sitting in his recliner with his lap desk, doing calculations on paper. I asked what he was doing, and he said he was doing calculations for iron loss, copper loss, hysteresis, eddy current loss. etc. in transformers. He was using a pen, paper and a slide rule, even though his Texas Instrument scientific calculator was right next to him. I asked, "Why... are you planning to go back to work?', and he said that he just liked to keep his mind busy and felt it might prevent getting Altzheimer's. He may have been on to something, because he was sharp as a tack. Use it or lose it.
I assume my DGJ's will still have some value to someone after I croak. That's for my heirs to sort out.

I have pretty much a complete set in the slip covers. Will be a long while yet before I am ready to sell them.
