I think the old 2 trigger M21's had a splinter FE.
While a lot of early double trigger Model 21 Standard Grades did have the splinter forearm, a beavertail forearm was an option from the earliest Winchester catalog that includes the Model 21 in my collection, July 1931. Over thirty years ago I had a double trigger Model 21 Standard Grade 20-gauge, 26-inch IC & Mod with ejectors and a beavertail. At seven pounds I didn't find it favorable to my Ansley H. Fox 20s at a bit under six pounds and the Model 21 flowed down the river of commerce.
