I have for sale what may very well be the perfect upland gun for Grouse, Quail, and woodcock. This little Joseph Lang 12 gauge chambered for 2 inch shells is a deadly combination for those upland birds that require a fast handling gun that is perfectly balanced. If you have never shot a gun chambered for 2 inch shells you are in for a treat. These little guns English guns are light in weight, this one being 5 pounds 9 ounces, and shooting light loads which have very short shot strings meaning most of the shot hits the target at one time so they are very effective at bringing down upland birds. They also pattern very well normally with those light loads. This particular gun is special in several ways. First, most two inch guns have short barrels of 26 inches. This gun carries 28 inch barrels which really helps smooth out the swing on these light guns. Most 2 inch guns also are proofed at 3/4 inch loads some at 1 ounce. This gun is proofed at 1 1/8 ounce. Weighing only 5 pounds 9 ounces I wouldn't recommend shooting 1 1/8 ounce shells in it but it shows this gun was built to take those pressures. The stock dimensions are 1 5/8 X 2 1/4 X 14 3/4 giving you dimensions that will fit many shooters. Stock is cast off for the right hand shooter. Chokes are set up for upland game with the right barrel at .005 constriction or tight skeet, and the left at .009 for improved cylinder. Put all these things together and you have the perfect upland gun. Shells are redly available from RST or several other makers. Condition of the gun is great with only the lightest of marks found on the stocks. This is just an all around great little, fun to hunt with gun. Price of the gun is $4700 plus $50 shipping to your FFL. As always there is a three day non-firing inspection period with the buyer paying shipping charges if returned. Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have on this fine gun.

Great way to join the 2 inch club, especially with those extra 2 inches at the end of the barrels and heavier proof. Great gun. if I didn't already have a 2 inch Hellis ....

I would be happy to supply well tested reloading recipes for anyone that buys it. It is very nice gun. Did it happen to come from Dismal River, Nebraska? I know they had a Lang for sale a few years ago.

I just received this email from Atkin, Grant & Lang:
Good Afternoon Mr Addison,

Thank you for the email. The gun was finished and sold on May 7th, 1943. It is a bit of a peculiar gun; there were 3 others that were made roughly the same with the 2" chambers at the same time but for different clients. Your particular gun was made for Major R.K. Davey.

Kind
Regards

For anyone contemplating a plunge into the 2" 12bore world, there is a nice thread from 2014 that you might enjoy reading - a good number of people extolling the virtues of the 2" gun. I found it while fishing for information on something related.
