He might have been fat fingered and added an extra 9.

It says that it has 2.75 chambers but does not indicate proof status (or show the marks). I don't love the "coin" finish, but it is hard to argue with the original quality of Grant's work. Interesting barrel length too at 30.25. Perhaps aftermarket replacement barrels?
Otherwise, 8K doesn't seem like a ton of money for a pre-domesticated Grant sidelever. Maybe a deal?

As a person who has worked my wat through life always believing that the glass is half empty rather than half full. After reading the description for this gun, negative thoughts started in a big way like: Estimated date 1890. The gun has no serial number and with Grant the number will give you the build date no problem. 2 3/4 Chambers at that date almost as rear as hens teeth. Chokes Mod Cylinder trans lard to the Man with the reamer has been very busy. Big give away no bore measurements at a guess .740 or larger. Barrel length ???? Or may be his tape measure is not in good working order. Ejectors that is good but omitted to say they are working. Here in the UK it would be a gun to walk away from, because any second user gun the barrels are of more importance than the action that can be repaired but you cant make the bore smaller. Though I do understand that bore diameter on tour side of the pond does not have the same importance as here.
The only lessons in my life I truly did learn from where the ones I paid for!

When I noticed the barrel length I figured they had been cut, and the chokes were what remained. I doubt the gun had 2 3/4” chambers when it left Grant’s shop, and I really, really, doubt it was proofed for 1 1/4oz loads.
Not one I am interested in.
Best, Ted

May be a good buy. Cabelas usually can drop prices a lot. A gun like this is not popular w most of their customers...

Who's going to ask Cabela's to show us pictures of the water table and barrel flats? WHY do you want to see the pictures, the guys on the ''Parker Site'' say you haven't bought a gun in 10 years. Dirty Harry

Looks like one that may have been re-furbished by AG&L some years ago. If so it should be fine. The printed label has the address of AG&L when Cyril Adams owned them. I have a 1907 sidelever Grant that was re-furbished by AG&L when Cyril owned the company and it's in the records that Cyril brought it back to Texas.
