As some have said he was a Prof, he taught French at Iowa State, not sure how long. He was in either the Reserves or Nat Guard, I can't recall. Besides the quote about owning every shotgun, he also once said he could trade a Purdey to a Mossberg in 3 trades. He was well read, opinionated, very knowledgeable about American made dbls, liberal on some points, a good shot and just a nice guy. He will be missed.

At any one time Larry typically would have a battery of about 6 or 7 guns. For many years that inventory of guns would undergo a complete turnover every year. On a few occasions he would trade for another gun that he thought he'd like only to discover he had owned it previously.

He could flail most people into submission with just electrons.
I never met an Internet personality that could compare to Larry in the ability to type endlessly over not much👍.
Out there doing it best I can.

I just enjoyed his articles in numerous publications. They were very well written and were subjects that to me were very interesting. I felt he liked 16 gauges. I even went out and bought a 16 gauge Model 12 skeet gun, just to see how they worked for me because of him. I always felt Larry could certainly have taught me several things about hunting and shooting. I guess that is why I enjoyed his writings so much.

On FAB - I haven't heard from him. He usually won't answer PM's. However, he normally doesn't come on unless there's a good French gun to discuss and it's been awhile. Something from St. Etienne would also normally bring Larry to the table.
