Actually, as it turned out, it didn’t. My wife noticed that I was researching MineLab options so Christmas morning there was a Model 35 under the tree. I’ve tested it and the result? It’s already on its way back. I didn’t have any fresh killed birds so the “shot catcher” (read old piece of carpet) under my reloading bench became my test ground. It couldn’t even detect a single 7.5 pellet laying on the surface let alone ones buried in the carpet.

I’ve looked into the Garret’s but the results are not encouraging. Since Minnesota scientists are probably going to be tied up researching Day Cares for awhile the poisonous “dust” agenda is likely to languish which brings me back to the original concern: lead shot in birds.

Anyone have a pin pointer that actually detects it?
