The original Ruger Red Label in 20 ga. was not bad. Decent handling, decent aesthetics. https://www.gunsinternational.com/g...uge-1981-production.cfm?gun_id=103395421Then Ruger brought out a 12 gauge version that made the descriptive phrase "pig on a shovel", regarding its dynamics, seem like an understatement. But the Gen II 12 gauge was much better in the dynamics department and had other improvements that made it a much better-handling/shooting gun. Jmo, but I believe this new offering is pretty close to $1000 overpriced. If I had to make a wild-ass guess as to what CSMC is charging Ruger to build this gun, I would say $1800, and that would be a high estimate. I wish all concerned well, regardless.

To show price scale, GrabAGun is showing a price of $2643 for the gun. Not in stock. Down from the suggested retail of $3299. Same place shows a Beretta 686 at $2749 and a Citori Hunter grade at $1958. A 725 is listed at $2515.

One thing that I would like is the rib extended up over the receiver. I like higher ribs. It makes it more like the rib on a trap gun and easier for your peripheral vision to see when you lock the gun on your shoulder. That's what I like about the way Browning makes my Citori. I never did like looking down the barrel and only seeing a bead, but no rib because the receiver is in the way. What is the sense of having a rib if you can't see it?................. AND I DO WANT TO APOLOGIZE to FelixD for having two Ruger posts. If you look at the dates, mine was posted first, but it was held up for some reason for a day and didn't get posted until after FelixD posted his. He didn't know, because mine wasn't on there yet. And of course, John had to make thing worse by shooting off his big mouth as usual. So, I do apologize for the goofiness, FelixD. It got on here one way or another and you did an excellent job. And I am glad to give you the praise you deserve for doing a fine job. And I am more than happy to continue to post on yours, FelixD. Good luck.

It will be markedly better than the original, really. The only RRL that's "right" is the 28 Ga. They are going for mid 2000's it seems. +3K for the new one is tooo much!
