Wooden,
If you use a drilling with a typical Greener style safety for a short while, it will become "second nature" to you and you may very well come to prefer it. However, you should not add a lever or extension as an unnecessary effort to make the safety easier to operate. This will also make it easier to dangerously disengage accidently.

Yeah, I would not want to modify it. I understand the temptation, but it seems in that case it would almost be safer to hunt with it on fire all the time as you wouldn’t get a false sense of security. Not sure I’d be comfortable doing that though, even though I’d probably use it most hunting by myself and no dog. Especially with the rifle barrel. My concern is operating while wearing gloves. I live in a horrible cold climate and I have a tough time with them, just not much for my thumb to grab onto even on a warm day. And heaven forbid a sticky safety with a Greener, The stuff of nightmares! Or, who knows, maybe I’d adapt and just make sure I got one with a smooth safety. Many drillings, to my surprise, I’ve noticed to be quite compact in the wrist.
