For 16 ga. I cut a piece of electrical schedule 40, 3/4 PVC to a correct length. I slip a 2 3/4 hull in the pipe and trim the excess with an exacto knife. I load a low end charge of SR-4756, I think it's a Remington wad, insert an over shot card and it roll crimps just fine, looks just like the old roll crimped paper hulls. I crimp them on my drill press. What little is left of the star crimp is meaningless. If it bothers you, get a BPI Spin Doctor.

There is absolutely no reason not to buy a shotgun chambered for 2 1/2 in. hulls. They are easily reloaded and the ammo is available. I own one shotgun chambered for 2 3/4 hulls...and it hasn't been used in 20 years. All my others are 2 1/2 in., 16 ga.
