I never ever concerned myself with a brass versus plastic zipper.
With gun slips and cases that get heavy use, there are two issues to actually be concerned about.
One, is the burnishing of the blueing off the barrels when you slide them in and out of the sleeve. Any sand dust cattail fuzz dirt water that gets down inside a sleeve gun slip is there forever and sands on your barrels every time you slide the gun in and out.
Two, any moisture that gets in is in there forever, because you can’t open the damn thing up.
So storing a gun in a sleeved type case is very dangerous.
I don’t think you can avoid polishing the tips of the barrels sliding them in and out of a slip even if you are meticulous about pre-storage cleaning.
A zipper case allows you to open the case fully then lay the gun inside and then zip it back up.
A little wax on the zipper every now and then will allow the zipper to last five lifetimes.
The patina that a leather case picks up overtime specially if you leather lube, the outside is pleasing to me. Paragraph when I get back to Michigan, I’ll grab some. I think I’m gonna buy that case just to get it fixed.
I think Galaxan’s bought up all the Boyt heritage series cases when Boyd quit making them or they got acquired or something. They used to have a bunch of the rifle cases.
Boyt’s heritage series are my favorites.
