I'm looking for feedback information on the Tourbon soft leather gun cases. I'm hoping to hear some ones experience about their products, the soft leather case in particular. Thanks in advance, Karl https://www.ebay.com/itm/317492207137?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20250417133222%26meid%3De7926aa9902d46f598609b22d0b44ce3%26pid%3D102727%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26mehot%3Dnone%26itm%3D317492207137%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D4375194%26algv%3DWatchlistVariantWithPSItemDR_BP%26brand%3DTourbon&_trksid=p4375194.c102727.m162921

$.02 (40% of a nickel) from the peanut gallery: China is the source of most of the finished leather made in the world. The reason is cost, labor and environmental issues. Australia and India play but not at level of China. I have used a Toubon leather recoil pad and was happy with fit and quality but not cases. However, it probably would be a good deal. If you buy from Amazon you can return it.

Go vintage American, Karl. Much satisfaction with them. Plenty of them out there in good condition.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Stanton, Your opinion is always valued, thank you. I have a chance to purchase a new/discontinued, beautifully made in the U.S. Galco case and was just wondering if the nice looking Tourbon would be worth my consideration. The EBAY site of Tourbon offers a return policy, but seems like a pain. Karl

Whenever I see something made in China, I put it back down. They are not our friend, and they have caused serious harm to our country by espionage, theft of technology, manipulation of media, purchase of our companies and farmland, election interference, and infiltration of our schools, hospitals, local, State, and federal agencies and government, even our churches.
With that out of the way, look for nice, used, American made products. There are plenty out there.
I'll pay more for American, British, Danish, French, German, or Italian made goods before I will give a single dime to Communist China.
Just my opinion.

Thank you, I have in fact looked at Croots products and they are excellent, but costly due to import duties from English sources. I checked with BSA in New York and the soft leather cases are in the $400-$600 range, making the Galco case seem really good. Karl

Check out Mission Mercantile in Texas. Great quality, designed in USA and I believe made in Mexico.

If you’re looking for a leather padded gun slip, there is a Boyt harness company slip with a bad zipper on eBay for 25 bucks.
If it’s still there when I get out of bed, I’ll probably buy it and have the zipper fixed.
Great equipment ,I’ve got 4 or6 of them , I can’t remember I like the zippered better than I like the slip on.
Out there doing it best I can.

Greg, Thanks for the tip. I've looked at the Boyt cases in canvas & leather, but with metal zippers I want to avoid that. The Galco zippered case looks like my best option in terms of quality and protection. Karl

I never ever concerned myself with a brass versus plastic zipper. With gun slips and cases that get heavy use, there are two issues to actually be concerned about.
One, is the burnishing of the blueing off the barrels when you slide them in and out of the sleeve. Any sand dust cattail fuzz dirt water that gets down inside a sleeve gun slip is there forever and sands on your barrels every time you slide the gun in and out. Two, any moisture that gets in is in there forever, because you can’t open the damn thing up.
So storing a gun in a sleeved type case is very dangerous.
I don’t think you can avoid polishing the tips of the barrels sliding them in and out of a slip even if you are meticulous about pre-storage cleaning.
A zipper case allows you to open the case fully then lay the gun inside and then zip it back up.
A little wax on the zipper every now and then will allow the zipper to last five lifetimes.
The patina that a leather case picks up overtime specially if you leather lube, the outside is pleasing to me. Paragraph when I get back to Michigan, I’ll grab some. I think I’m gonna buy that case just to get it fixed.
I think Galaxan’s bought up all the Boyt heritage series cases when Boyd quit making them or they got acquired or something. They used to have a bunch of the rifle cases.
Boyt’s heritage series are my favorites.
