I would have asked what the LOP is before driving anywhere to look at it as a potential purchase, whether 100 miles or across the hamlet. Just common sense to ask if the barrels or the wood has been cut.
I had to go right past his house to go to Home Depot to get some light fixtures. So, I would have wanted to see the gun anyway. Not a big deal for me. Plus he had a couple other guns for sale, too. I'm always driving around looking for guns. But after I saw it, I thought I would hold off on it. He probably won't sell it for a while- if I decide I still want it. Plus I have a feeling he might lower the price and I know one guy at the club with a kid who shoots who might want it. But he's out of town right now. Maybe I could put another pad on it and sell it. I'll just have to decide. A lot of options involved. But, right now I have two guns to get leather pads on, and I just got done doing a Silver Pigeon ll, so I'll hold off on it for now. Thanks gentlemen for all your help............(ADDED November 4th @ 11: 45 a.m.)....... Here's another thing I never mentioned, but I think it's time to tell the story now- some of you may remember .........Last year I was in Florida. I was wearing a heart monitor. And I had a medical emergency. I had to go right home. I grabbed my dog and left. I went up through Georgia on I-75 and went past a couple of big signs advertising a GROVE GUN SHOP (thousands of guns) in Locust Grove, Georgia. It was 2:00 a.m. when I saw the signs and I couldn't stop, so I wrote down the name and thought I would ask the people on this board about it, thinking I would stop there on my next trip down. A few weeks later, I remembered the shop, found the paper and got on here and asked about it. One person on here stated: "Hey Jimmy, if you drove by the sign for this outfit, doesn't that mean you were in the vicinity? How close were you?" It was John Roberts asking his usual dumb question. I didn't say too much, not wanting to talk about my personal life at the time. Then another moron, Stan Hillis, said:" So you are competing with ed good for the title of "the who'll do my legwork for me Meister", or is it the "King of the dumb question?" Get off your butt and do something for yourself." UNQUOTE. Now go back on this thread and see who the same two idiots are who come up with dumb remarks and are actually saying the EXACT OPPOSITE of what they said last year. After dips--t, Stan made his stupid remark, I have been waiting for the other nitwit to chime in here and sure enough- here he is. John Roberts jumps in and says THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT HE THOUGHT I SHOULD HAVE DONE last year. There's azgreg suckin' hind tit, too. I was driving right past this guy's home who had the Ithaca SKB. I didn't want to ask a bunch of questions over the phone. I guess Stan is saying I don't have any common sense, because I had a chance to see the gun in person- measure the stock, look at the chokes and see the gun for myself. Is there anything wrong with that? So, after looking at it, I just decided I didn't want to make a decision right then. Perry mentioned that the grain might be painted on. I might need some advice on how to blend something in to make it look right. How hard would it be to match that with a spacer? So, it didn't matter whether I knew the stock was cut or not. Or what the chokes were. I had a chance to look at the gun, so I stopped in and looked at it. Just like these two shovel-headed nitwits said I should have done with Grove's Gun Shop last year. So, I am guessing Stan is saying if the stock was cut before hand, I should have stayed home. I'll tell you what, guys. The next time I want to look at a gun, I'll get your permission so you can tell me what I should do. Stop and see it or not................. And just think, people, these clowns have access to guns.
