Doing some research on this interesting and checkered maker. Does anyone know if there’s a serial number cutoff when alleged Spanish parts began being substituted for quality British components?
Thanks

I will be honest, I don't know the truth, but was told years ago, that rumor was false. He got in trouble for tax evasion. a friend has a beauty 20 ga, game scene engraved but the Malin name makes in questionable.

I knew Frank Malin, he came to my condo when I was working out of a condo that I owned. I sold some of his guns. I liked him he was a very personal fellow. They were spainish guns that he claims were finished in England. I do not know how much truth that was. Anyway, he had some nice stuff. Later he go into some trouble can not remeber if was tax issues or fraud. He later ended up importing cross bows. There are some folks out there that are very likeable but just a little questionable.
Still some out there.

A search of gun forums will result in dozens of pages of information about Malin and his guns. Start searching. It is somewhat doubtful that there ever were any "quality British components". That is not to say that they were bad guns.

It's all a mystery. We have to refer to old posts on several websites to get pertinent information. Start searching.

It becomes more of a mystery when you search other old forums. Quality British guns made in London Canada with British parts, Arrieta guns finished in England, Arrizabalaga guns finished and engraved by Malin, Some quality guns, some junk. you can read dozens of posts, none agree with what really went on. Whatever the makeup of the guns they seem to be finished and engraved by skilled British craftsmen. I found a early 1980's catalog, they are a site to behold.

I'm glad that you appreciate the confusion that is involved in this man's attempt to market a shotgun. We will continue in our search for information. Again, I will state that they were not neccesarily bad guns. I would own one.

A photo of a nice cased sidelock. The game scene and bird dog engraving is quite good. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/5NNc162f/Malin-1.jpg)
