I've done lots of stupid things over the years, too many to detail here.
Besides, it's also time to tell Postal Service stories.
4 or 5 years ago I sent an Indiana friend a Christmas present. Nothing expensive or special. Some local-to-Maine candy, a Maine-specific almanac, some other stuff. Christmas came. No delivery.
Christmas went, no delivery. I knew it was in Indiana - the tracking said so.
I watched this package bounce back and forth between the two post offices in the town - adjacent Zip Codes. Each bounce took about 5 to 7 days. Except the time it bounced up to South Bend and then back. That took about 10.
Finally, it was delivered. My friend got his candy and stuff just in time for Valentine's Day.
Another time, a Christmas card to an old neighbor never arrived there. Came back to me in late March.
While I don't like being at the mercy of the Postal Service's ineptitude and sloth, it beats being at the mercy of FedEx and UPS.
