Stan, at one time Blackbeard Island off the Ga. coast was owned the USN. It was meant to be used for harvesting wood for shipbuilding. It was never harvested. The wood for the original six frigates was cut partially at St. Simons. The USS Constitution, one of the original frigates, is still afloat. Another notable character in the series is a shipwright, Pete, who is a paid professional. Pete's nickname is "No feet Pete" When asked why he has such a nickname, he tells the story about losing both feet in an accident. The way he moves around Tally Ho, you'd never know it.
