Things have slowed down a bit here Ted, but I still have a few tricks up my sleeves.

Looking forward to it.

Sorry about going dark but the motel we're staying in here in ND doesn't seem to have functional wifi.

Heading back to Minnesota monday and will update the post then.

Back in God's country tonight. Steady rain almost all the way here so tomorrow's an R&R day (I reckon). Got a cooler full of dead ditch parrots I need to deal with and lots of equipment I need to clean up and relocate. At least I missed the MEA weekend.

Hard to compare these two forms of upland hunting (woodlands and plains). The scale of things seems so different to me...

My 1st decent double (bought in the middle/late 90s), a made-as left New England Arms 557 Arrieta 12-bore. I seldom show it off anymore, but it has travelled with me to many destinations. The blueing is almost worn completely through where my palm touched it during carry in warmer weather (didn't have proper shooting gloves then I guess, & too-late to worry about it now).

A modern gun to shoot heavier loads than I normally do, but these wild plains birds are tougher than the woodland variants and it seems that speed does-indeed kill.

Lloyd,
You are certainly correct regarding sense of scale! I had hunted N.D. near Garrison when it became very apparent!

An interesting repurposing of an old fishing stringer, eh? They'll be ready to process by the end of the week.

Cool and wet here these days. Looks quite different from even a few short days ago (when I left for North Dakota). Autumn is starting to age-out a bit here.

I've got something like 10-12 days left so... hopefully the weather will cooperate just a little longer.

Uplands, looks like a nice little prairie pothole, part of the duck factory. Easy to underestimate distances, even on those pronghorns. Nice pictures.

Brisk this morning. Pulled all the boats a few days ago and we began the process for close-up here. Still lots of birds about and the trails all seem productive again.

Things are becoming quite monochromatic here...

Another week or so and then....another autumn is done in this northern clime, at least for me.

Lloyd,
The leaf fall sure makes shooting easier.
