I was thinking more along the lines of both the boat and the gun being the kind of things that wreak havoc with a guys billfold.
Best, Ted

Fwiw, this thing is more, to me at least, about the young man's work, his background, his tenacity, his unbelievable skills, both with wood and design knowledge, along with the volunteers who came on to help him and their back stories. As Gil just stated, the episode of sourcing live oak flitches from a South Georgia sawmill and its iconic owner is truly remarkable and funny at the same time. I learned what a wonderful wood that is for boats. The end product is wonderful, regardless of your point of view. It's extremely well done with the music, the running commentary and captioning. I highly recommend taking a look... JR

I’ve watched it since the beginning, every episode as it dropped. There is no finer series to watch on YouTube…

Live Oak and Longleaf Pine are two of those woods native to GA and the Southland. The crookedness and enduring qualities of the Live Oak's limbs are just right for boat/ship ribs, and the Longleaf Pine is tall and straight, flexible and enduring, for masts. Excellent and intriguing series. I watched 10 episodes just today. I'll see it through. The faith of this young man, to conceive the completion of a project of such magnitude without "federal funding" or "grants", up front, is contagious. Long may he run.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Stan, at one time Blackbeard Island off the Ga. coast was owned the USN. It was meant to be used for harvesting wood for shipbuilding. It was never harvested. The wood for the original six frigates was cut partially at St. Simons. The USS Constitution, one of the original frigates, is still afloat. Another notable character in the series is a shipwright, Pete, who is a paid professional. Pete's nickname is "No feet Pete" When asked why he has such a nickname, he tells the story about losing both feet in an accident. The way he moves around Tally Ho, you'd never know it. The colorful Poncho, a 32 year old Macaw, is also a regular. Gil

The United States, Constitution, Constellation, Congress, Chesapeake and the Congress were the original six. They were built at a total cost of approximately $688,000 in 1794. They had from 38 to 44 guns each.
Amazing and beautiful watercraft.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Gil, How did you learn Poncho’s age? I don’t remember it being mentioned in any of the episodes I’ve watched. JR
