The photo above shows the receiver end of the barrels of two Browning Superposeds.
The top one is a 12 gauge 1959 Lightning, marked Browning.
The bottom one is a 1974 Fabrique National Superposed.
The top one has - as shown - a two piece construction. The FN gun on the bottom is one piece, and lacks that screw.
My daughter's 1971 20 gauge Superposed Lightning is the same as the 1974 FN gun - so the change happened between 1959 and 1971.
I tried to look in Schwing's book, but neither "ejectors" nor fore end is indexed in a way useful to finding this information.
For Superposed fans: The FN gun is sweet - 7.2 lbs and case colored with minimal FN B25A1 style engraving:
