I guess you are right. Hortman was a long-time, legislator and Speaker of the House. In other words, a practicing politician of some considerable consequence, whereas Kirk made his living as an influencer/activist - so, yup, not comparable. Excuse me Stan, but, just a few facts should be brought up. I apologize in advance.
Melissa Hortman was rated a big, fat, zero by the NRA, for many good reasons. She was no friend to sportsman or gun owners. Embarrassingly, she was the House leader of a trifecta of Minnesota democrat leadership that saw the evaporation of an $18 billion surplus (that is billion with a b) that ran through their nasty little fingers in less than one year. We have a serious shortfall looming. Little to nothing of the surplus was returned to taxpayers. This, combined with the fact that school test scores in the state declined 20% in both math and reading during her tenure.
Charlie Kirk asked people to debate him. He was clear, kind, and made it perfectly obvious that his soul belonged to Jesus.
Melissa Hortman helped to destroy the fabric of society in Minnesota. If Tylor Robinson had been arrested in Minneapolis, there is a good chance “Bloody Mary” Moriarity would have released him with cashless bail to his own recognizance.
While I would have much preferred her electorate waking up to her lousy legislative performance, and finding somebody else to vote for, nobody who hunts or owns a gun, or possesses more common sense than a new born turkey poult, should miss Melissa Hortman.
Best, Ted Call me old fashioned, Ted, while I believe murder is murder, apparently, it is only murder if it is a political compatriot for you. I guess you are the New Age guy. And you comments about what Hortman would (NEVER) have done, are pretty despicable, but totally in keeping with the kind of person you are. Minnesota's fabric is pretty undestroyed. What an absolutely dumb thing to say. Are you being purposely obtuse Brent? A state legislator of a middling state like MN, just isn't on the same level of celebrity and fame as someone like Charlie Kirk. For all intents and purposes nobody outside the state knew anything about her. Its the same kind of difference as between a morning DJ and Brad Pitt.
The world cries out for such: he is needed & needed badly- the man who can carry a message to Garcia

It turns out, this criminal scribbled many of the exact words that you and your buddies like rmbill repeat here often, on the shell casing and on unfired rounds. Parroting talikng points, your yardstick of success.

Thanks for a couple days of respect for the dead and those left behind. I appreciate it fellas.
I believe everyone who has intended to remember them in prayer has done so. That was the intent of the thread. For the most part it accomplished what I had hoped for.
So, the gloves are off. Have at it.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Have what, Ted? Have what? Graduating kids all over the country, including red districts and states, cannot read or write worth a damn. This is not news. You are a big part of that. Fixed it for you. Feel free to bloviate on that, now. A teacher, tells me it is my fault, kids going to school can’t read or solve math problems at grade level. You know I yanked my kid out of the public school system, and sent him to a private school, right? Because, the public schools, suck. Go ahead, try to change anybody’s mind. Best, Ted

Obtuse. Yea, you could say that. https://neveryetmelted.com/2025/09/...-international-tributes-to-charlie-kirk/Anybody who remembers Hortman refusing to allow the republicans to even debate those leftist bills that passed in the last legislative session under the DFL trifecta, no doubt has a different opinion of “ public service”. Best, Ted

I hope you think the same of the assasination of Melissa Hortman and her husband a few months ago. And the others that were nearly killed that night. Sadly, i do not believe they made the pages of doublegun. Yes, that's sort of my point. Kirk is getting more coverage in the Mainstream Media than the Hortman assassinations (and also the attempts on the Hoffmans that night), along with the attacks on the governors of Michigan and Pennsylvania and maybe even Pelosi, have received far less attention. The MSM is definitely not treating these murders and attacks equally. Nope, Kirk was not at the level of Hortman as a public servant and citizen. She was well respected by most, even across the aisle - but not by you, of course. Why is that, Ted? You have a lot of hate. Did you fly your flag a half-staff for Hortman like most respectful Minnesotans? I bet not. The Nutty Professor is crying his eyes out again, this time complaining that nobody here memorialized an anti-gun Democrat on a firearms forum. That's some funny shit! I wonder what stopped the Nutty Professor, and others who care, from submitting their own Threads asking for prayers for Melissa Hortman? I wonder what stopped them from posting a Memorial Thread in the "Silent Doubles" forum???... other than the fact that it would be no more well received than a Memorial for Sarah Brady or Ted Kennedy on any firearms forum. I saw a lot of coverage about the killings of Melissa Hortman and her husband in the MSM. It was even covered extensively on the very Conservative Newsmax and FOX networks. A quick Google search will show that it was extensively covered by the media. There was also a tremendous amount of coverage on the plot to kidnap the Michigan governor. What wasn't covered much is the fact that several defendants were found not guilty or had hung juries due to their defense that they were entrapped and encouraged by informants for Biden's FBI. Dittos for the arson attack on Pa. Gov. Shapiro, who is Jewish. This attack happened soon after the Shapiro family had their seder dinner to celebrate Passover. The arsonist was a disgruntled Democrat and anti-semite named Cody Balmer, who was very upset with Shapiro's position on the Israel/Palestine conflict. He told police he was disappointed that he did not encounter Shapiro during the attack, because he planned to beat him with a hammer. That's the Liberal Left Democrat idea of civil discourse. It isn't Conservative Republicans or Charlie Kirk followers who are responsible for the huge spike in anti-semitic and anti-Israel violence in this country. But you won't hear a peep about it from the Nutty Professor.
Voting for anti-gun Democrats is dumber than giving treats to a dog that shits on a Persian Rug

In the past three days Charlie Kirk's IG followers have risen from 1.5M to 10M, according to a source I read. Erika has issued a statement that she will carry on her dead husband's work. She said that "they have no idea the fire they have created inside her by trying to silence her husband" (not a direct quote).
Martyrs often accomplish more in their death than they could have in life because it awakens so many more people to the truth. Charlie had a heart for the young people across our nation. They are the future leaders. God has an interesting way of causing boundless good to arise out of the bad perpetrated by evil.
Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to His purpose."
I will watch and wait to see how He accomplishes that in this instance, believing that He will.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

I’ve experienced the passion of this awful moment in a context already made tender by sitting with my elderly aunt in hospice and then traveling back east to spend time with our late son’s grade school aged boys as they hurt and struggle. We do not grieve as those who have no hope and history has proven times without end, “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church.”
Gloriously, it will be again. His Truth is marching on.
