I really appreciate Griffin & Howe rifles. Winchester 52's also attract my attention... together, it's a combination I find almost irresistible.
This came to me today.... oh well.....

Wow that is really cool, is that buttplate like they have on NRA sporters?

Normally I like the Winchester 52's with heavy bull barrels, but that one would be hard to pass up with the gorgeous stock work of G&H. I like that it's setup for iron sights, or target scope bases too!

That’s a lovely rifle. I’ve never seen sling swivels mounted at an angle like that. I like it!

Speaking of model 52’s, here’s an interesting one. I’m not a fan of the scope mounted so far forward, but otherwise it has a lot of appeal.

A great gun. Is the eye relief on an Alaskan long enough for this mounting? I have some 03s that have mounting problems and I also have Alaskans. Help.

Have you tried putting one of your 03's on a rest and then hold one of your Alaskan scopes where it's got proper focus to judge what eye relief it needs? I do this often to check old scopes before going through mounting them.

So as luck would have it, a really nice pre-A 52 walked up to my table yesterday... I did what every addict does, I tried to resist but couldn't. It didn't take very long for the G&H stock to have a much nicer condition 52 riding along...

Ben, is that you? How’s your arm healing up? I understand you were able to use it to your advantage while negotiating the 52…

It's a very good gun. The G&H stock has a wonderful appearance, and I appreciate that it can be utilized with a scope or iron sights. Additionally, the angled sling swivels are really unusual; I don't see them very frequently. I purchased one of my own Model 52 rifles from GunsAmerica, and everything went according to plan. The firearm arrived just as described. These 52s are incredibly adaptable weapons.

That’s a gorgeous pair of Model 52s — the G&H work really elevates the rifle, and the pre-A you picked up looks equally clean. If you ever decide to add another variation or compare values, GunsAmerica usually has a solid mix of 52s listed, which helps get a sense of market pricing and condition differences. One thing I’d suggest is checking the bedding and action screw torque on both rifles; a little fine-tuning there can noticeably tighten groups on these older rimfires. Really great finds — rifles like these don’t come around often.

The action has a screw thru the bolt channel down thru the trigger guard (like a model 70). It makes the barrel "free float"... I've already turned down a crazy money offer for it because I just don't want to let it go right now. I have owned several Griffin & Howe, Sedgley, Jaeger and other custom rifles. Griffin & Howe custom 52's are typically in the $5-6k range.
