Euros are better eating, but mournings are better shooting (IMO). We have had the usual monsoon rains over the last week, with some flash flooding. The whitewings are probably already in Mexico.

Agree completely on the Mourners being the BEST wingshooting target of the 3 species.
Tx had a magnificent Dove Season last year. If anything I have more birds than last year.
TX. P&W reports a 5% increase in Dove numbers statewide in their latest releases. An increase is certainly possible, although I live (purposely) in a Dove shooters Mecca , we have doves EVERYWHERE we have mowed or burned.

Weather forecast is for rain showers this afternoon, chances increasing for both Saturday and Sunday. A big enough rain event will move these birds out for the most part, necessitating a change in tactics if I intend to shoot a limit on Monday's opener .
Large numbers of birds are waiting North of us,so we should replenish our supply by the next weekend.
I would relish another season like last year. I have the fields, water holes and large Mesquite roosting cover laid out sufficiently to assure they can find habitat that will keep them around.
Best of Luck to everyone on their respective Openers.
The Start of a gunners Best months is Monday for me.

Looking forward to our opener. We'll do a morning shoot which this time of the year is the way to beat the heat. Next shoot you can bet this will be in the dove bucket. Gil

You need to flat black that bright, yellow-green thang, Gil.

Reckon it will keep the gnats at bay like your old outfit?

Maybe knock the dust of the Bible before your big shoot.

Here’s a start…..

Point taken, Lonnie. Thanks for taking the time.

However, Gil and I are friends and hunting buddies and he knew I wasn't putting him down. It was all in jest.

That’s Gil? Would have never guessed.

Looks too much like the Army. Sitting in the dirt in the hot sun shooting stuff. But hey, if you guys like it, have fun.
