German hammer gun. Can't make out proof marks. A big confused. Converted it looks like bore of .633 unless I'm doing it wrong. Chokes of circa .602

Bore is 16.1 mm = .633"
19 gauge is .626"
18 gauge is .637"
L choke is 15.3 = .602"
R choke is 15.5 = .610"

Could it be Japanese? That may be a Miroku maker's mark on the L flat and they made some 18g

No clue. Here is a link. I have no plan on bidding, but the lack of proof marks on a German gun threw me and then the bore diameter really threw me.

To me it looks Italian, maybe Spanish, during WWII or right after where Krupp 3 Ringe Stahl was repurposed to another gunmaking centre. Those odd marks on the water-table & on the top of the flats are the clues. Plus there's a mark forward of the 1400 gramme stamp.

It is a Fine Hammer Double

I think your math is fine, but the add says 20 bore.
Worthy of measurements for sure.

Very thick breech walls.

Tut.
Without addressing this particular gun, a German (any)gun that was intended for use in Germany had to have German or other acceptable proof marks. A German gun intended for export to another country did not require German proofs.

Maybe this is an 18 gauge shotgun?

There's a thread around here somewhere that has a few Italian assembled guns of German Components during or right after the 2nd Major Disagreement in Europe. I will dig when I have a minute..
