This is off topic other than where I might be, and why I might be where I am, But I spent a couple days at the World Pipe band Championships, where the best pipe bands in the world were assembled to play in friendly competition.
If you don’t like piping, skip this thread.
If hearing the 2nd best pipe band in the world this year doing things ensemble that have never been heard at the world’s before bugs you, Bury it.
this is world champion piping.
A World championship medley. All those pipers playing as one. At the end they do a swirl up the scale scale I’ve never heard before. Enjoy
You were out of the video because you were standing in front of the bagpipers, waving your Syracuse double shotgun, as a conductors baton.
Outstanding performance Gray Man, and I'm not talking about the pipers. If I went to Scotland for The Glorious 12th, I'd be grouse hunting... not spending two days of my trip watching some guys in skirts. I couldn't listen to that noise for a full minute. Finally... something more annoying than Rap music.
Not buying it.
Voting for anti-gun Democrats is dumber than giving treats to a dog that shits on a Persian Rug
I genuinely enjoy bagpipes. When I was 16, I had a job at an amusement park called Idlewild, in PA. They have an event day called the Highland Games. On that day, I was working away, peeling potatoes as it poured rain outside. The park, which lay in a valley, became shrouded in dense fog. To the side of the building, where I labored with the potatoes, there was a door and a small covered porch. A Highlander stepped under the awning, just big enough to protect him. When he lit up those pipes, a shiver went through me, and it was a most incredible sound. The instant he finished, somewhere off in the fog, another piper picked up the tune. It was beautiful. I'm 72 now and remember it well. I wish I knew the title of the piece they played.
If you don’t enjoy a thread about the world pipe band championship, then move along. If you know nothing about driven game shooting holidays, then if you are interested, try to learn. Or don’t.
If Dave doesn’t like seeing and hearing best pipe band work, performed in a city where much best shotgun work has been created, then he’s free to remove it, with my apologies.
I hired a single piper in full Douglas regalia for my Scotts-Irish wife's funeral. It was special, brought a lot of people to tears Started with Bluebonnets Over The Border, then to the family piece, which the piper had to learn for the occasion. Far from the Italian funerals that I grew up with, but memorable.
I lived in the famous Rocky Mountain town of Banff for a number of years. A stones throw from the venerable, grand Banff Springs Hotel. I don't know if they still do, but back then they employed a full time piper to wander the grounds playing. To hear that music wafting through the pines was truly inspiring.
The world cries out for such: he is needed & needed badly- the man who can carry a message to Garcia
