Using the the narrowest example of shotgunnery and applying it to all others, you become self-indicted of ignorance and self-focus, ed. Most experienced shooters know that the weight of a recoil pad has little to no significant effect on a shotgun's dynamics to be noticeable, especially once the gun is anchored to your shoulder when mounted. Stan and I both have many, many years of experience shooting all kinds of shotguns of various gauges, barrel lengths, and stock configurations, with and without recoil pads, at all kinds of game and targets. We know some things because we've done some things, and not having done the grouse thing doesn't refute them. Your opinion on how a recoil pad affects the dynamics of a shotgun is extremely weak.
