A friend gave me a copy of the latest edition of the Idaho Game Warden magazine, due to the fact that one of my best friends has been nominated by the Conservation Officers as Judge of the Year. A fitting write up for a great guy and outdoorsman!
To the point! In going through the classified section, I came across this simple blurb: "A friend of Bill W" in bold type.
No idea if it refers to Bill Wise but if in fact it does, his influence and friendship was obviously widespread.

Usually refers to Bill Wilson, one of the founders of Alcoholics Anonymous. Do a search for "friend of Bill W." for the scoop.
Regardless, your comments about Bill Wise were accurate too.
