Several months back I located another sporterized 1903. It took me a while but I finally got someone on the phone at Cabela's (they are not as helpful as my local Cabela's here in FTW). The gentleman I spoke to complained every step of the way, admitting I was lucky he wasn't busy but complained when I wanted to know what markings it had on the barrel, since the photos are not very good. It seemed to be a pain when I asked if he could put his hands on the rifle. The seller told me he didn't have his glasses and can't see very well but did confirm there was a Circle with an 'S' inside of it near the caliber. I did ask if there was any other markings on the barrel but was brushed off and basically hung-up on when I inquired further about the scopes condition. Would any of you fine people be able to tell any more info from the photos provided? I do not intend to purchase yet as I believe it will hit clearance in a few more months so I'll save my pennies if it is still there. https://www.cabelas.com/p/101784527

I can't help you with any additional information. How about the rifle, but I can suggest that you call back at a different time and try to get a different person on the phone or (and much better) you have it shipped to your local store, wherever FTW is, so that you can look at it in person.

I considered it but at the asking price, I would feel much more comfortable during a sale or clearance pricing. In a few months they will be doing a 10% off used, 10% off with Club Card & combined with Vet/LEO Discount it will be 25% off. But it has been there for over 5 or 6 months so it may make it a few more.

No question in my mind, it is a Sedgley, I didn't recognize the sidemount, but blew up the picture enough so that I could read that it is a Hart Arms sidemount.

It's definitely a Sedgley but I don't think that the 30-06 Sedgleys are selling for that kind of money anymore. That Hart scope mount is sure different than the one I have on a rifle.

Yeah, I cannot find my paperwork on it but yeah it is a Hart Arms mount with a Hensoldt Ziel-Dalyt 2-3/4x scope. I tried to get confirmation if there was any stamping on the barrel where they put the address line but the guy was not very inclined to assist me. He also did not see the pitting near the front sight.
Ever since the Linden, I have wanted another Sporter. There is a G&H Mannlicher at the local Cabela's but they're asking $5,000 for it. It has been there for 8 months so it must not be a great deal. I go in there enough, maybe the clearance price will be easier to swallow (maybe 3500 would be bearable 😆).

I too was able to see the Hart markings. Very interesting. Yup, the only problem is the price. If you were face to face, you could make an offer.
