I watched a video last night and the guy made a statement that AYA has ceased production, did I hear wrong or is this true?

If it's true then it's pretty sad. They seemed to do a good job and they made some very nice guns.

There is also this...

Kinda ironic, cheap Spanish guns contributed to the demise of the British gun trade now cheap British guns might just be contributing to the demise of the Spanish gun trade!

Seems unlikely. The Spanish artisanal shotgun makers were poisoned circa 2010 when the Spanish government established a 100 Euro tax, per year and per gun. Spanish shotgun owners were faced with a choice of either pay the tax every year, or don't pay the tax and face prosecution, or surrender the shotgun to the Civil Guard.

The Civil Guard found themselves in possession of about 100 years' worth of artisanal shotgun production, all price points represented. So many shotguns were turned in that the Civil Guards were being crowded out of their offices. The Civil Guard began auctioning off the turned in shotguns.

At that point savvy Spanish gun shops bought used top price point shotguns for a tiny fraction of what a new gun would cost to be made, performed complete "face washing" (i.e. restoration) and sold the made new shotgun for a tenth of what the same gun would cost to be newly made.

And that was the slow motion end of the Spanish artisanal shotgun makers.

Or because of the Italians. They are making very shootable guns at reasonable prices.
