I was told when I came here a few days ago I had better have a thick skin and now I know why. Bottom line is this If I were a millionaire I wouldn't bat an eye at 3000.00 but I am not. As bad as I want this done I simply can't afford it. I simply refuse to pay someone that kind of money to inlet a stock if the gun were made of gold. What people charge is what they charge. I came up the hard way so I have a different view on monetary value of things. If I have presented the wrong impression I apologize. I will find a compromise somewhere. This could be my last post. I haven't decided yet.Seems I have stirred the pot a mite. I do thank everyone who gave me names to contact and have helped me in any way.

On the Braddel I need a complete forearm and on the Syracuse I need just the wood. The hanger (metal piece) is there. It has the little device that changes from auto eject to manual eject.

I will send you a PM Karen, it will have detailed instructions on how you can register a complaint here at Bertram and Co.
Until then, enjoy rolling in mud by yourself. Having been here for some time, I have learned to translate what closet Liberal Left Democrat beta soy-boys like Princess SKB Stevie are really trying to say... The statement above actually means that Princess SKB is more than willing to troll, insult, and roll in the mud whenever he/she thinks she may have the upper hand, such as with her previous encounter with me. She thought I knew nothing about the law concerning a stockmaker needing to have an FFL, so he/she hurled insults, calling me dumber than a box of rocks, and saying I should stick to some brainless job such as being a Wal Mart greeter. For a moment, rolling in the mud was business as usual. But having no intelligent or clever response to my subsequent reply, he/she has reverted back to the same dishonest and cowardly response he/she uses to evade my repeated question about whether he/she pays Dave the $12.00 fee for successful sales resulting from the Free Tagline Advertising he/she does here. I can even translate Princess SKB Stevie's response into Dog Language. A dog would communicate the above by cowering, avoiding eye contact, putting their tail between their legs, and slinking away. The poor beta dog might even dribble some urine as it sneaked away.
Voting for anti-gun Democrats is dumber than giving treats to a dog that shits on a Persian Rug

JHolland One thing you might consider is buying an already made stock for another gun and adapting it to your gun. I did that with a cheap Fausti. I couldn't find a stock for it, but I found a stock for a Winchester 23 and made sure that it was larger than the original. I think I paid $50 for it, then spent several hours working on the fit with a Dremel tool. The finished product isn't going to make people tell me what a beautiful gun I have, but the stock fits as well as the original and turned a useless gun into one that I really like. I cannot, in my wildest dreams, imagine pulling that off without it looking like a bull’s ass sewed up with a grapevine. JR Why? It's just woodworking, and I have built a lot of woodworking projects over the years. I was told when I came here a few days ago I had better have a thick skin and now I know why. My reply is based on there being two entirely different gun’s frames and tangs with their shapes and their dimensional differences, along with the fact you cannot really add wood where gaps are present. It may be serviceable but I cannot see how it could be very pleasing. But if you’re happy, so am I… JR

https://www.internetgunclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=136by Neil Mc » Mon Jun 10, 2024 12:18 am I know I’m very late to this conversation, but I was one of the directors of Joseph braddells before it closed in 2014 due to a fire, if anyone is interested in tracking details of a Braddell gun after approx 1895 please get in contact as I have the shop gun records in my possession. You can contact me by email. nandcmcw@talktalk.net and I will endeavour to help as best I can. Neil

This reminds me: Considering the price brand-new custom shop guns, they are often a very good deal.

I think it would be far more expensive to commission a gunsmith to build a custom rifle vs. going to one of the small boutique manufacturers that still build "custom" guns to spec. Same with special ordering some Italian shotguns. That's all I meant by it.

Don’t know if he has been mentioned, but, Randy Murray, out in The Dallas, OR, did a restock for me that was reasonable, and perfect.
Google him.
Best, Ted

Well I have had to eat crow before and it didn't taste good then and it doesn't taste good now. I am about to take a BIG spoon full. To any and all persons I may have offended with my comments on the expense of stocking a shotgun I apologize. I had posted previously I needed a forearm for a J Braddelly and sons shotgun. Couldn't find one so being the miser I am decided to make one myself. I machined the hanger piece which was the easy (it is what I do) part based on careful measurements and pictures on the net. I then set out to fit the wood. Mind you this is a forearm. It took me the better part of three days being very careful not to screw it up. I have no experience with wood but wood is like metal you remove everything that don't belong there till you have the end result. I am not the most highly skilled individual when it comes to wood but It looked like the picture and it fit where it was supposed to fit and the latch functions perfectly. Bottom line is the people who fit and finish complicated stocks are very skilled indeed and as such should be compensated. I think somewhere in this thread someone suggested I try to fit a stock myself before berating those who do. I now have a new found respect for those people. I was able to find someone to do the stock at a price I could afford. I did some research and he has good reviews and turnaround time was reasonable. Now let me finish eating this crow. It is getting cold...
