This invention relates to fire-arms, of the types known as single or double barrelled, shoulder fired, breech loading rifles, shotguns, or combinations thereof, and more particularly to the looks, or firing mechanism with which the are equipped.
One of the jects of this invention is to provide a firing mechanism in which is combined a safety catch that positively prevents a discharge of the fire-arm from occurring when the device is in operative position, quite irrespective of violent handling, shocks or jars that may be imparted to it, or other misadventures, until the safety catch has been withdrawn.
A further feature is in the provision of a gun lock combined with a safety device, that is applicable to any type of shoulder fire-arm, or shot-gun and rifle combination, that in nowise interferes with its ordinary use or impedes the instant action desirable in the use of the arm.
These and other highly important purposes will appear in the followlng description and are shown in the accompanymg drawings, constituting a material part of this disclosure, and in which Figure 1 is a partial top plan view of a gun lock made in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the same, the firing mechanisms being shown as being locked or inoperative.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of the locking device as taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view of the same, taken on line 44 of Fig. 2 and drawn to an enlarged scale.

As shown in the drawings the invention comprises a hollow breech block, generally designated by the numeral 15, having at the rear the usual shoulder piece or butt, not shown, and at the lower front portions forwardly reaching side extensions 16 between which the barrel or barrels 17 are pivotally secured.
Fixed to the under side of the block is a guard 18 for a trigger 19 the main narrow element 20 of which passes through a slot in the breech block and rotates on a pivot 21 set therein......<<
