Just skated out of trouble with this Baikal hammer gun. With less than 24 hours left on the timed sale and no bids on it I found myself pressing the button for the £2 opening bid.

Fortunately (the other residents of the cabinet might not have approved) a couple of other guys wanted it more and ran it up to a princely hammer price of £24.

The description intrigued me :- Ⓕ +VAT (S2) 12 bore Baikal Double Hammer, 28½ ins sleeved barrels, full & full, broad raised rib, 2¾ ins chambers, treble grip black action, 14½ ins pistol grip stock with sling swivels

It looked in fairly new condition, and I can’t envisage anyone having sufficient commercial or sentimental reasons to spend the cost of sleeving a gun like this. I wonder if the Proof House looked at the monobloc barrels and thought it had been sleeved.
