Finally worked out the mechanics of the trade with the fella from Texas and boy did he seem different, but don't we all. ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/72/f0/1UhYF6JP_t.jpg) 70cm Tubeset w/ sling swivels weighs 1256 grammes on my Trusty, Dusty, Rusty Kat Certified Kitchen Scales. Quite interesting.... Interesting too is the >>T<< Poudre ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/3a/ef/gJ5g7kMs_t.jpg) No idea on the intertwined VP surmounted by a Crown yet?? ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/be/5d/GDIAlZw9_t.jpg) Purdey Nose ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/e1/c1/wBZhkopj_t.jpg) Metal Buttplate for occasional use in bludgeoning the quarry. ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/8e/30/JPmCxXxA_t.jpg) Pins on the Left ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/af/ae/3flXXgKL_t.jpg) Screws on the Right. Obviously, overall views of this very nice and enticing Franco-Belgian guns would be very much appreciated here. *hint, hint* Evidently, this one either escaped the greed of German confiscation, or was (indeed and literally) liberated in Germany three years later.
As to Galand, the name is mostly known for their various revolvers, but at least Galand fils also dabbled in shotguns and rifles. The engraving is modest, but - for my taste - very nice.

Tubeset knitter's initials are >>JT<<. A little play North to South with the forend off. Someone probably fed it a healthy diet of higher pressure 70mm cartridges. Purdey Wings / Sideclips are not as common on Austrian, Belgian, French scatterguns as they are on German versions. ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/1b/ad/Yqz0BaJ1_t.jpg) Our new French Modell......((Griffon d'arrêt à poil dur - Korthals - Dutch - French - German.... almost like the scattergun??) He too fancies PEI Mussels, Argo44....) ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/b0/be/MLX8klCf_t.jpg) ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/42/af/L3iJU20A_t.jpg) French vs German Battle for Superiority & Dog Bone Treats..... ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/8a/51/AoqjvaOq_t.jpg) ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/fa/fc/8lyPEBuP_t.jpg) Indeed the engraving is modest & along French lines. What I cannot determine if this is a >>G<< for Galand akin to a trademark or is it just something that resembles a >>G<< thru happenstance? Hochachtungsvoll, Raimey rse

That's a grande idea to maybe chase a Belgian mechanic VP who made pistols for Galand and also could have made a few shotguns along the way to fill orders.

Hello, Raimey; of course you will know the following website as such. The minuscule changes in the proofmarking styles might help to establish a possible date frame for this gun. https://littlegun.be/arme%20belge/artisans%20identifies%20g/a%20galand%2014367%20gb.htmAlso, the website shows that Galand was able to create absolutely "best" guns, on a level with Lebeau-Courally. Amazing indeed, and worthy of the most elegant court. Carcano

Indeed & too the French Poudre(Pour Poudre T Pyroxylée Sans Fumée-1899)/Pulver >>T<< and the chamber dimensions ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/a0/a1/KonIdev4_t.jpg) Greatly narrow the date range.... Hochachtungsvoll, Raimey rse

Too, from the examples on LIttlegun's website, it appears that Galand fancied the Poudre >>T<<??? On one tube there, Galand makes a claim to be a tube maker?

Seems Charles François Galand(C.F.G.) & Nicolas Vivario-Plomdeur(VP) à Liège were very chummy. Charles François Galand had a >>factory<< in Liège @ Vivegnis Street, 296. So I wonder if Nicolas Vivario-Plomdeur or changed his trademark to that of a interlaced VP surmounted by a Crown? It is given that Nicolas Vivario-Plomdeur was active only up to the time of the War of Northern Aggression.

Yes, the craftsmanship is superb and nothing short about this one. Ejectors are still in time and the Purdey Nose seems as tight as it was new.
