Hammerguns and sporting clays are great fun as they add extra dimensions to the experience.

I'd been attempting it lately with an early LC Smith D-grade, and even more recently with an early Ithaca NIG. Also, I'm almost always the only "kid on the block" doing it when I go.

Damascus tubes and external hammers only make it better (in my mind).

I have an earlier gun (a Lang, even older than the lovely Daw here) but it's too-light IMHO for this sort of use (fine for upland hunting but not for targets).

The American guns are much heavier here, roughly 6, 8 and nearly 10lbs respectively (the Ithaca has 32-inch tubes).
