Greg's advice is very good. I use 0000 steel wool to apply rust blue solution but never used it for Oxpho Blue. I think I will do it now; I always wash the oil out of it with acetone. According to the instructions, this may not be necessary with Oxpho Blue. A sadly. long gone gunsmith friend that specialized in repair of common "using" guns used Oxpho Blue for complete re-bluing (and without removing the old blue) I saw some of them, before and after. Very impressive, for cold blue, but as Keith indicated, it took a lot of work.
