There is nothing about the Southern Side-x-Side in decline. All the vendor booths and tables were filled. The landowner across the road has taken advantage of the need for extra parking to make some extra cash. The late attendees arriving later in the morning are still having to park on both sides of the road for a considerable distance to walk from the entrance. At times, the people have the isles filled to capacity. I saw a considerable number of guns being purchased. The vendors were happy with the turn out. Everyone I talked to had good customer traffic and sales.

I spoke to Rick Hemingway late Friday and asked him how things were going. He said through close of business that Friday the number of shooters on the course was up 18%. In terms of the Smith/Parker shooters, through CoB Friday he had thrown targets for 60 flights of shooters, up from 39 flights the previous year. Unless Saturday was slow, and I don’t think it was, the ‘25 Southern SxS was a success. There was some backup on the course but it was well managed. The trappers were really humping.

My son and I attended the Southern for the first time. We drove 2500 hundred miles each way and over 5000 miles total from Utah and back. We took 19 guns with us and shot 15 of them. The Toyota Camry was riding very low as you might imagine with all those guns and 700 pound of ammunition! Had a great time and met some nice people. Lots of shooters and a few "ringers" who were much younger the me. We shot mostly hammer events. Won a few and lost a lot more. My son came in 2nd place in the black powder event shooting a 10 gauge and an 8 gauge. Lots of smoke! Here are some photos
